Tricia Hurt from CM Eppes College
EDGECOMBE COUNTY, NC (WITN) – This week’s Teacher of the Week for April 19 is Tricia Hurt of CM Eppes Middle School.
Hurt said she wanted to follow in her family’s footsteps and enter the education field after two years in a different career. She has done just that, working in education for eight years in County Durham and Edgecombe. She has been at CM Eppes Middle School for five years.
She is not only a teacher, she is also a soccer coach and chair of the elective department. Additionally, she was CME’s Teacher of the Year from 2021 to 2022.
In his biography, Hurt said his favorite part of the job was building relationships with students: “My students won’t remember everything I teach them, but I hope they will remember what I teach them. they mean to me and how much I believe in them. Teaching isn’t always easy, but I really love my job and am able to make a difference in someone’s life every day.
The person who nominated Hurt said: ‘I would like to nominate my colleague and friend, Tricia Hurt, as teacher of the week.
Coach Coaches of Hurt at CM Eppes Middle School. She went above and beyond this year to reach students. Coaching small classes due to COVID has not been an easy task, but she has adapted and found awesome ways to engage students. This includes yoga, meditation and using the Wii in the gym.
She also wrote and coached a program for teachers to boost morale and help us grow as staff. Staff meet after work 2-3 days a week to train (socially distanced of course!) at custom stations!
She recently applied for a $100,000 grant for a new pavilion for students and staff. We haven’t yet heard about the results, but fingers crossed!
She did ALL of this while planning a wedding! She got married on 12/31/20!
I believe that Coach Hurt deserves this title. She blows me away every day with her energy and love for her students and staff! »
Congratulations Ms. Hurt!
