Hamden High School receives another threat, closed Monday and Tuesday – NBC Connecticut

Hamden High School has received an online threat and will be closed Monday and Tuesday while authorities investigate, Superintendent Jody Ian Goeler said.

In a tweet, the superintendent said the school district was working with police and the mayor’s office to develop a plan to reopen.

Hamden High School will reopen on Wednesday with increased security measures, according to Goeler.

Hamden Police said the threat was made on Sunday evening and targeted the high school community.

“Many students in our community have taken proactive steps to inform their parents, school officials and the police about these online threats,” the police department said in a statement.

It comes days after the school district received a different threat and closed the school on Friday. Police said school officials received a report around 9:30 p.m. Thursday about a potential gun violence online threat at Hamden High School and police began to investigate.

Authorities first decided to close the school on Friday out of caution, police said.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Hamden Police at 203-230-4000. Tips can be kept confidential.
