Governor Ugwuanyi inaugurates new post-primary school management council – The Sun Nigeria

Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi of Enugu State on Friday inaugurated the newly reconstituted Enugu State Post-Primary Schools Management Board (PPSMB) at Government House, Enugu.

Ugwuanyi also swore in Oliver Enete as special adviser and Remigius Eze as permanent secretary.

Inaugurating the board, Ugwuanyi appointed Favor Ugwuanyi as chairman of the board with Ugochukwu Eneze and Chukwuma Okenwa as members.

The Governor has also appointed Prof. Rose Onah and Mrs. Agatha Ukah as ex-officio members and the new permanent secretary, Remigius Eze, as secretary to the board.

Governor Ugwuanyi explained that the PPSMB has been reconstituted in accordance with Sections 4 and 9 of the Enugu State Post-Primary Schools Management Board Act, Cape Town. 67, Enugu State Laws 2004, following the expiry of the previous Council by the passage of time.

According to the Governor, the Board is responsible for managing and controlling all post-primary schools and institutions, being public schools under the Education Act.

He added that “the centrality of this mandate to the development of our future human resources underscores the imperative of appointing to the board of directors people with solid educational backgrounds, experience, character and diversified skills.”

He recalled that Enugu State was recently ranked first with a pass rate of 93.9% among public secondary schools in Nigeria and the second best performing state in the country to take the exam. WAEC in 2021.

Governor Ugwuanyi said, “These achievements and many more are a testament to the volume of investment the state has made in the infrastructure, human resources and oversight of the state’s post-primary school system.”

Congratulating the new members of the PPSMB on their appointment and inauguration, the Governor told them that their background obviously recommended them for the strategic mission.

He urged them to ensure sustainable improvement in the quality of teaching and learning in public post-primary schools through the optimization, development, motivation, discipline and effective supervision of the Council school staff.

Governor Ugwuanyi therefore instructed the new council to maintain the performance rating and strive to improve it.

“I wish you good luck in your new mission, hoping that you will justify the trust placed in you by the government and the good people of Enugu State.”

In response, PPSMB Chairman Favor Ugwuanyi appreciated the Governor for finding them worthy of serving on the board and promised the Governor that they would take the PPSMB from where they met him to a higher level. (NOPE)
