The Hamilton and Badin High School athletic departments will renew a rivalry that hasn’t existed for more than two decades.
The Big Blue and the Rams will fight for the City of Hamilton’s bragging rights in men’s and women’s basketball in the upcoming 2022-23 season, while the football team will reunite in the first week of the seasons. 2023 and 2024.
Football teams haven’t played since 2000, according to new Big Blue coach Arvie Crouch. Badin admissions and media relations director Dirk Allen said the most recent results were a 16-10 Badin win in 2000, a 45-13 Hamilton win in 1999, a 3-0 win from Badin in 1981 and a 28-14 Rams. victory in 1980.

The two schools currently face off in softball and baseball. Badin’s football team finished runners-up in Division II last December in Guangzhou. The Rams compete in the Greater Catholic League-Coed Division and are coached by Nick Yordy.
Hamilton is attending the Greater Miami Conference.
“I’m very excited to rekindle this rivalry,” Crouch said. “I think this is a great opportunity for both programs to showcase our talent in Butler County and the Tristate area.”
Kevin Higgins leads the Hamilton boys’ basketball team and is set to renew the hardwood rivalry that was last played in the 1980s with the consolidation of Hamilton High School.
“We think playing Badin will be a great way to open the basketball season next year and this game has a chance to be a special event for the City of Hamilton,” Higgins said. “Starting our season at home against Badin is a sure way to fill the Hamilton Athletic Center. The women’s basketball game will be at the end of their season, so both teams should be ready for a big battle.”

- Basketball between Hamilton and Badin Boys Saturday November 26
- Hamilton vs. Badin women’s basketball Monday, January 30, 2023
- Hamilton vs. Badin college football, first week of 2023 (date TBD)
- Hamilton vs. Badin college football, week one of 2024.
Discussions continue for annual games in all sports between schools.
